Håfa Adai, and thank you for taking a moment out of your day to read about our son, Baby Metgot’s medical journey.
On February 27, 2025, my husband and I, together with our older son, Magas-Tano, welcomed our handsome little boy, Metgot-Tano, into the world. Baby Metgot was born with a unilateral cleft lip and cleft palate—a condition that affects one side of his lip and the roof of his mouth. This diagnosis brings several challenges, from feeding difficulties that require special bottles to potential impacts on his speech and dental health. Despite these hurdles, we remain hopeful, knowing that the right medical care can truly transform his life.
Baby Metgot is scheduled to undergo a series of essential surgeries off-island at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA, beginning soon. His first surgery, scheduled for July 18, 2025, will repair his lip and nose. His second surgery, tentatively scheduled for March 31st of next year, will repair his palate. He will also receive ongoing supportive care, including speech therapy, dental care, and long-term medical follow-ups as he grows. These treatments are vital in helping him smile, eat, speak, and thrive like any other child.
While insurance covers part of the cost, we continue to face substantial medical bills, travel expenses to and from Guam to San Diego, CA, and time away from work and home. We are humbly seeking funds to help ease this financial burden and ensure Baby Metgot receives the full spectrum of care he needs.
Every donation—no matter the size—makes a difference. Even sharing our story and keeping our family in your prayers means more than words can express. Your generosity brings comfort, hope, and strength to our hearts during this journey.
Thank you for your continued love and support.
With heartfelt gratitude, The Hernandez and Gumabon Family
