Help Lyric Brooks Battle MOGAD Expenses

My name is Michelle Hudson and I am setting up this go fund for my goddaughter lyric Brooks. She is a six-year-old girl who is so sweet and full of life. She has come down with this condition called MOGAD. What is MOGAD?

MOGAD stands for Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein Antibody-Associated Disease.

Let’s break that down like this:

•    The brain and spinal cord have something called myelin, which is like a soft, protective coating around nerves — kind of like insulation on wires.

•    In MOGAD, the immune system gets confused and mistakenly attacks this protective layer.

•    It attacks a specific part of that coating called MOG (Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein).

This causes inflammation in parts of the brain, spinal cord, and sometimes the eyes, which can lead to:

•    Vision problems or eye pain

•    Weakness or trouble walking

•    Balance issues

•    Sometimes seizures or confusion

What Does This Mean for a Child?

A child with MOGAD might experience flare-ups (also called relapses) where symptoms come on suddenly. But with treatment, many kids do very well.

⚕️ Treatments Include:

•    Steroids to calm inflammation

•    IVIG or plasma exchange to reset the immune system

•    Long-term medications to prevent more attacks (if needed)

What Does the Future Look Like?

Hopeful. Here’s why:

•    Many children recover well after attacks — especially with early treatment

•    Some only have one episode and never relapse again

•    Doctors are getting better at diagnosing and treating it

•    Research is actively ongoing, and new treatments are being developed

What Families Can Expect:

•    Follow-up care with a pediatric neurologist

•    Possible rehab (like physical therapy or vision therapy)

•    Emotional support for the child and family — it can be a scary diagnosis, but you’re not alone

So Grandma and grandpa, and her dad As well as myself was taking lyric to Disneyland because she had graduated to the first grade on the way there she had a little sniffle fast-forward we get to Orange County where Disneyland is located and we take lyric to the hospital where she was denied care and so we were we were directed to go to another Kaiser and this Kaiser had diagnosed her with strep throat and a UTI. They didn’t even give her fluids through a IV. They just sent her back to the room we were staying in. with amoxicillin and two boxes of ibuprofen and two boxes of Tylenol

it was apparent that she was dehydrated and needed immediate care

we went back to the motel room we were staying in

later on during that evening, she appeared to be OK but once she went to sleep, she woke up in the middle of the morning complaining that she was not feeling good. We end up having to call 911 for them to come get her

Once they transported her to Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

This vibrant girl full of life that you see in these photos have been under sedation and given Kepra. medication which the father grandma and grandpa as well as myself were against giving lyric. Lyric has been in

Children’s Hospital of Orange County since June 2. 2025. Under deep sedation She never got the opportunity to enjoy Disneyland because she’s been under deep sedation. It has become a financial burden trying to come back back-and-forth from Southern California all the way back to Northern California when we are from Northern California we have been back-and-forth for like three times just so I can do a little things and check on the my apt which is located in San Jose. . Don’t get us wrong family by bedside 24 hours a day because that what we do as a family we don’t leave our babies unattended or alone.

In addition its coasting us about $1100 a week just to stay in a room let alone pay for gas and food

The only help that Children’s Hospital of Orange County has offered us since we’ve been down. Here is a $20 gas card and a voucher for $10 for lyrics father Lamar

Don’t get us wrong. We really appreciate this, but it’s not enough

This has been very stressful. And so hard on the whole family. the trip was to take my goddaughter down here to Disneyland so she could have some fun and enjoy herself us as a whole family

anyone who has an heart should empathize with what our family is going through. Please do so.

Don’t get me wrong. We’ve had so much family support meaning our Pastor church members. Friends. And we are so grateful for them all.

I am setting up this go me fund for them with hoping this would reach people

because after all awareness is the key

please pray for our family

this underlying condition could strike anyone at any time it has done so for us we are not sure how long we are going to be here but we’ve already been down here almost over 2 weeks now

So please keep our family in prayer

Please feel free to read through MOGAD. AND SEE WHAT IT STANDS FOR AND LOOK AT THESE PICTURES. WOULD YOU WANT ANYONE IN YOUR FAMILY LET ALONE A YOUNG ONE TO BE GOING THROUGH THIS THANK YOU.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
