My name is Raja Padala, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart on behalf of my dear brother-in-law, Sunil Kunapareddy – a loving husband, a devoted father to two beautiful daughters (One 3 yrs old and the other one just 5 months old, born in December 2024), and until recently, the only provider for his family.
Sunil’s life took a heartbreaking turn this April. What started as sudden, severe joint pain, giddiness quickly spiraled into a terrifying reality. After weeks of uncertainty and mounting pain, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) — a rare, aggressive form of blood cancer. His blood showed 28% blast cells, dangerously low white blood cells, and critical anemia.
He is now undergoing chemotherapy at Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad. The cost of treatment has already crossed $25,000 draining every rupee they had — borrowed and scraped together by loved ones — but now, they have nothing left.
To combat his severe anemia and dangerously low white blood cell count, suitable donors must be found every alternate day — each time at a significant cost, adding further burden to the already overwhelmed family.
His doctors say the road ahead includes multiple rounds of chemotherapy, lifesaving medications, and ultimately a bone marrow transplant. All of this is expected to cost another $50,000–$60,000.
This young man, once strong and smiling, is now fighting for his life not just against cancer, but against the cruel burden of unaffordable survival. And all the while, his wife is trying to stay strong for their children — holding their newborn in one hand, and hospital bills in the other. Their 3-year-old daughter still doesn’t understand why Daddy isn’t home… why Mommy cries behind closed doors.
Sunil needs us — now.
This young father is not just fighting for his life. He’s fighting to return home to hold his baby daughter again, to raise his little girls, to support his wife who’s doing everything she can to keep their world from falling apart.
