Support for Recovery After Traumatic Accident

Hi everyone. As most of you know back in February, I was involved in a horrible accident on N. Roosevelt Blvd. I was hit from behind on my scooter from a car that was going at least 90 mph. The driver of that car was very drunk. I was ejected and ended up 100 feet away from where I was hit. I suffered a traumatic brain injury, and a severely broken neck which needed emergency surgery.

I was in physical therapy since March in Miami and I continue to be in therapy here in town. I still have issues all this time later. The traumatic brain injury is the reason I cannot walk without a cane, (for the first two months I was in a wheelchair) and the brain injury has given me Radial nerve palsy in my right hand, basically I have a paralyzed hand. I believe I will always have pain where my neck has been fused for the rest of my life. I just deal with it.

you may know that I was a bus driver for the city of Key West, a job that I can no longer do. I have no income, no work and monies that were raised a few months ago have been what has sustained me. Rent, bills, groceries and a ton of Ubers getting around town because I have no mode of transportation anymore. That money is almost all gone.

I hate to ask for help. Everybody does. But this is kind of a last resort. I have won a settlement from the driver of the car and his insurance company, but they are now fighting me on it. I may get it and I may not. Over $850,000 has been billed to my insurance company since March. My responsibility so far is $49,000.

please consider helping me out, I know that I have received so much help over the last couple of years, (and I’ll never forget it ) but honestly, I’m not sure if I know anyone that has had a crazier two years than I.

thank you. God bless.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
