From My Bed to Hope: Please Help Me Walk Again
Hello, my name is Mary Lou Ryan. I’ve been completely bedridden in Trinidad & Tobago for over four years due to a dislocated hip and peripheral nerve damage that causes me daily, excruciating pain. I can’t walk, sit upright, or do anything on my own. My muscles are wasting away. I live alone. The smallest tasks have become impossible without help. Despite my challenges, I’m fighting with all the strength I have — and I believe that with your help, I can get my life back.
After years of agony, I’ve finally gotten a clear way forward:
1. Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility – As recommended by physiotherapist Dr. Gerard Antoine, this is my only realistic chance of rebuilding strength, managing pain, and regaining the ability to walk.
2. Total Hip Replacement Surgery – Once my body is strong enough, I will need surgery to replace my severely damaged hip.
But none of this is affordable for me. That’s why I’m turning to you. Here’s a breakdown of where your donations will go:
Inpatient Rehab Facility (3 months) – $12,000
Specialized Medications – $2,000
Nutritional Recovery Plan & Supplements – $800
Transportation to/from appointments – $200
Pre-surgery Consultations & Imaging – $1,000
Total Hip Replacement Surgery (future) – $9,000
TOTAL: $25,000
Why I’m Asking For Your Help:
I don’t want to live like this anymore. I want to walk. I want to work. I want to be healthy and whole again. Your donation — no matter how small — will go toward healing a life, not just a hip. Even sharing this campaign with your network could be the one action that saves my mobility, independence, and future.
