Håfa Adai, family and friends,
We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support during a difficult time for our family.
Our dad has been hospitalized at Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) since May 21 after being diagnosed with a serious blood infection that traveled to his heart and severely damaged his mitral valve, leaving it inoperable. After extensive testing and care, his doctors at GRMC have determined that he will need to be transferred to PIH Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles to undergo two major heart procedures:
• A mitral valve replacement to repair the damage caused by the infection
• A coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) to restore healthy blood flow around blocked arteries
These surgeries are critical to saving his life and giving him a chance at full recovery.
While insurance will help cover his travel and the nurse escort’s travel, it does not cover the nurse’s hourly care, which can cost up to $4,000. In addition, there are other out-of-pocket expenses such as lodging and support during his recovery off-island.
Our fundraising goal is $5,000, but honestly, any amount—no matter how small—will help. Your support will make a meaningful difference during one of the most difficult times our family has faced. If you’re unable to donate, we humbly ask that you please consider sharing this page and keeping our dad in your thoughts and prayers.
More than anything, we want our dad to make it through these surgeries so he can live the rest of his life fully—to finally meet and enjoy the presence of his grandkids a little longer. , and to continue being the strong, loving person we know and cherish.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
