Dear Friends, Strangers, and Angels out there,
My name is Smith Rogers, and I’m writing this from a place of desperation but also with a sliver of hope in my heart. I never thought I’d be here, publicly asking for help, but my life has taken a terrifying turn and I can no longer fight this battle alone.
Just a few weeks ago, I was rushed to the hospital after waking up in unbearable pain and swelling in my leg. Within hours, doctors diagnosed me with Necrotizing Fasciitis, a rare but extremely aggressive bacterial infection often called flesh-eating disease. It spreads like wildfire and kills the tissue in your body. By the time the doctors caught it, it was already threatening my bloodstream and organs. I’ve undergone emergency surgery to remove the infected tissue, and I’m still in the hospital, hooked up to tubes and IVs, fighting off infection, pain, and fear. The road to recovery will be long and uncertain. I may need more surgeries, skin grafts, and months of antibiotics and therapy. The worst part is even surviving doesn’t mean I walk away whole. But I want to survive.
The cost of the surgeries, ICU stay, medications, and aftercare is overwhelming over $5,000 and climbing. I’ve sold everything I can, and there’s no family backup. I’m alone, terrified, and humbly reaching out for help. If you’ve ever watched someone you love suffer or suffered yourself then you understand the pain of helplessness. Right now, I’m clinging to faith and to the kindness of people I may never meet. Even a small donation can help cover another dose of medication, a night in the hospital, or another step toward healing. And if you can’t give, please share this story with others who might.
I don’t want this to be the end of my story. Please help me write a new chapter one filled with healing, recovery, and hope.
From the deepest part of my heart,
Thank you,
Smith Rogers
