Zachary Toriello was coming home from finishing a long late shift at work. It was almost midnight, and he went through a yellow turning red light. He was T-Boned on the left side and thrown from his motorcycle. He arrived to the ER in good spirits & joking with the staff, but they were unable to stabilize his blood pressure even after transfusions. He had obvious multiple open fractures of his limbs. They were unable to wheel him to CT scan, so they took him to OR for exploratory surgery. He was cut from breastbone to pubic bone, and they found his spleen ruptured. He was then sent to the ICU where he remains on a ventilator. The ortho staff is now addressing the shattered pelvis, fractured bilateral arms, fracture left wrist, fractured sacrum, and fractured left big toe. He also a left fibula fracture, but it does not need repair. This is going to take multiple surgeries and a long road of rehab. The medical staff cannot guess how long his recovery time will be but are hinting at least a year. Zachary is the provider for his family, which allows Jennifer to be home with Lincoln their son, who is also having some medical issues.
