My name is Monique Lamy, and my life changed on May 11th, 2013, as I was involved in a terrible car accident that left my right leg and foot badly broken. My tibia, fibula, talus bone, and knee bone were shattered, and my foot was completely dislocated.
Since that day, I’ve been living with constant, unbearable pain. My ankle is locked—I can’t move it, only my toes. The pain never really goes away. Some days are manageable, but other days the pain is so severe I can’t even walk. I’ve had moments where I can only cry in silence, hoping for relief.
Over the years, the tendons at the back of my ankle have tightened so much that I can no longer put my foot flat on the ground. I walk with a limp, I can’t stand for long periods, and I can feel my heel being pulled higher as time goes on. My foot has also started to twist when I walk.
This injury affects every part of my life, and the journey has been painful, both physically and emotionally. I’ve tried to manage the pain and challenges on my own. I was determined to face this alone, but over time, it has become overwhelming and stressful. The constant pain and difficulty walking have only gotten worse.
After much reflection and with a lot of pride and courage, I’m finally reaching out for help. Doctors have recommended ankle fusion surgery as the best option to relieve my pain and improve my ability to walk normally again. This surgery will stabilize my ankle and help me walk more comfortably and be free of consistent pain.
My family and I cannot afford these expenses by ourselves, and that’s why I’m asking for your support. Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to relief and a chance at a better and normal life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and generosity.
