Hi, I’m a single mom of two, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart.
One of my children has sickle cell anemia and is currently hospitalized with severe complications. We’ve spent so much of our lives in and out of hospitals, and it’s taken a major toll on our quality of life. I don’t have any family or support system, and I continue to lose jobs because I’ve had to constantly be by her side.
I did have FMLA, but it’s unpaid—and while I’ve been at the hospital, I’ve come home to find my gas and electricity shut off. I’ve fallen behind on rent because my daughter’s health has to come first.
They won’t allow my younger child to stay overnight in the hospital, so I’ve been splitting my time between the hospital and the Ronald McDonald House. It’s a heartbreaking situation, and I’m exhausted in every way—but I would do anything for my kids.
I don’t usually ask for help, but right now, I truly need it. If anyone can find it in their heart to contribute, even a little, it would mean the world to me and my children.
