Recent back injury & have a bulging disc & multilevel disc desiccation. I have a 98 mile round trip commute for work & my back/right leg become painful &/or numb after about 25 minutes of driving. I am the sole income for our family & this job provides me with the pension & healthcare my family needs. Last year I sold my 2008 Prius because I had 2 catalytic converters stolen at the cost of $2200 each (California emissions requirement) I couldn’t afford to keep the Prius so I sold it to a junkyard & bought a 2006 Scion Xa with a salvage title for $1600.
It does not have cruise control & that would make my commute so much less painful because I can move the seat around to take pressure off my right side. I know I’m not in a super tough situation like many others on fundraiser, however I can’t afford the $430 for the cruise control. Even more so my work hours have been cut in half because of my back injury. I don’t know how long this injury will take to get a little bit better but I know if I have cruise control, I’ll be able to work a full shift since my body won’t be hurting from holding the throttle down for 2 hours a day round trip
