My name is Judy Jacques, and this is my sister-in-law Stacey Lewandowski. Any contributions, thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
On April 10 th, 2025, Stacey went to the ER with side pains and nausea. A CT scan revealed a mass. Given her history of cancer (breast cancer 17 years ago) she was referred to an oncologist in Waconia, who immediately suggested her to Mayo clinic. After a number of scans, lab work and appointments, she was diagnosed with retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma. This is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. While the care and treatment plan is still being crafted at the time of this write up. She will definitely be facing a major surgery to remove the mass. Depending on how surgery goes and what results are discovered, she could be facing chemotherapy treatments after surgery. This type of cancer commonly recurs and spreads to other parts of the body so adjacent treatments of chemotherapy and radiation are very common and still unknown at this time. The initial surgery will be difficult with a lengthy recovery. Stacey is also the primary caregiver for her daughter Alexis, who has a very complex medical condition of her own. Steve, her husband, works at Jonaco in Chaska and also assists with Alex’s cares. Alex herself has had 3 brain surgeries in the past 2 years and is still rehabbing from the effects but is currently medically stable. The family has been through alot of medical challenges in recent years and the journey now continues with Stacey’s cancer. Quote from Stacey: “None of us is guaranteed tomorrow but when we wake up in the morning and have another day, we should all be greatful. Faith, gratitude, medical treatment, positivity, family and friends are going to be my weapons of choice.”
Thank you for any support and generosity!
