Dear Friends
Many of you know (and many don’t) that a lot has changed in the last 2 years which is why I am humbly reaching out for your support.
I received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma – cancer of the bone marrow. As you can imagine, this has turned my world upside down and resulted in chronic pain from bone fractures, vertebral collapse and caused serious mobility issues – I am currently unable to walk without assistive devices.
On April 1, 2025 I went to the hospital for testing and ended up having surgery for a fracture in my hip which led to 4 weeks in rehab and being discharged home with insufficient home aide support. On April 29, 2025 I began treatment. My oncologist is confident in a positive outcome and believes I will respond well to treatment and get a good quality of life back. He said he won’t tell me I’ll never surf again.
I am grateful that several of my friends (you) have stepped in to help however they can.
And additional support is needed. I haven’t been able to work for the last year and a half so I am aiming to raise funds to alleviate the substantial financial stress that accompanies a situation like this.
Funding will go towards:
• Dog care (dog walkers) for Charlie
• Rent, bills, life’s essentials
• Home aide care should additional hours not be approved or fulfilled
• Any medical costs not covered by insurance – ex. Complementary medical treatments, specialists
• Healthy. nutritious meals as needed – I currently can’t cook
• Unexpected extra costs
I am hoping to alleviate the financial burden so that I am doing everything I can to focus my energy on healing, thriving, and regaining my physical and mental health. Please consider making a contribution – there is no amount too small (or too big). If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with friends, family and social networks would mean the world. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support allows me to focus on health and gives me strength and hope when I need it most.
