My name is Lydia Hoops, and I am the proud mother of my daughter, MaKenzie Hoops. At 13 years old, MaKenzie faces the daily challenges of living with Dravet Syndrome. We have explored every available medication and treatment in hopes of alleviating her seizures, but unfortunately, none have been effective.
Recently, the dedicated team at Cincinnati Hospital for Children has identified a procedure that they believe could provide relief for MaKenzie’s seizures. This journey will require us to travel multiple times for preparations leading up to her surgery. On July 24th, we will be heading to the hospital for a procedure involving an RNS brain stimulator. We anticipate our stay will be between 3 to 5 days, provided there are no complications post-surgery.
I am acutely aware of the financial and emotional strain this situation will place on our family. Therefore, I am reaching out for support during this challenging time. MaKenzie and our family would greatly appreciate all the prayers and positive thoughts we can receive. Thank you for your kindness and support.
