On Wednesday, June 4th 17-year-old Nick McConnell’s life changed in an instant.
Nick was involved in a devastating roadside ATV accident that left him with critical injuries to his head, neck, and spine. He was flown to Grant Hospital, where he remains in the ICU under close medical care, fighting through what will be a long and challenging recovery.
Nick has already undergone emergency treatment for extensive life threatening trauma. His injuries include but are not limited to multiple brain bleeds, spinal fractures, a broken jaw, collapsed lungs, broken ribs, and several broken facial bones. He also suffered severe bodily injuries—lacerations, punctures and so on. As doctors continue evaluating the full extent of his injuries, it’s clear that Nick will require multiple surgeries, long-term rehabilitation, and specialized care including physical and occupational therapy.
Before the accident, Nick had just started his summer break and was preparing to begin his very first job. He is a kind-spirited, adventurous young man with a love for the outdoors, a heart full of energy, and a future full of promise. Now, instead of building toward his next chapter, he and his family are facing unimaginable medical and emotional challenges.
We are starting this fundraiser to support Nick’s parents, Mindi and Shawn. My Aunt and Uncle, as they focus entirely on his healing. Between missed time from work, hospital stays, and the overwhelming cost of ongoing treatment, this journey will place an enormous financial strain on their family. Your support will help cover medical bills, surgery costs, recovery expenses, and give them the time and space to be by Nick’s side every step of the way.
If you’re able to contribute, please consider donating to help lift some of the weight off their shoulders. Every donation—no matter how small—makes a difference. And if you cannot give financially, please keep Nick in your prayers and share this campaign with others who may be able to help.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, kindness, and love during this incredibly difficult time. We will continue to share updates on Nick’s progress here. #NickStrong
