My name is Bridget. In these photos are my husband of 11 years and our beautiful 2-year-old daughter we tried for 9 years to have.
I am the sole income source as child care is expensive and we don’t have anyone else to watch our child, so my husband cares for her full-time. I recently found a job working for one of the best employers in the country and just got through training, so I haven’t had a chance to fully catch up on my bills when I got hit with a severe medical crisis.
I started to get a sore throat and congestion, so I stayed home from work on Wednesday. I went back to work on Thursday but noticed my neck felt stiff on one side like I slept wrong. By Friday, my throat and congestion were worsening by the hour, and my neck was losing range of motion. I started throwing up at the end of my shift, so I was sent home. On Saturday, I had no range of motion, my neck was severely painful, swollen, and hot to the touch. I was running fevers on and off. The urgent care tested for the usual viruses, and after failing a neck range of motion test and light sensitivity test, I was sent to the ER. Blood work, CT, and the most god-awful botched lumbar puncture later, they gave me my diagnosis and follow-up plan. Monday they’ll have the meningitis results as they had to be sent to the main hospital.
The copay for the hospital is $250, and being out of work for a solid week or more potentially will cost me the rest of the amount I’m looking to raise.
I’m not one to go asking for help typically, but this little girl means the world to me, and with her birthday on the 23rd, the last thing I’d want is for her to go without basic necessities because I was unable to work. Any amount will help loads, and be sure to share with your friends. I hope in the future to be able to return the favor to others on the platform in need. Thanks again, sorry if the post was long!
