Hi, I’m Amber and this is my baby, Jasper. He got injured, dislocated his back right hip. The vet we saw refused to try a closed reduction ( putting the joint back in place ) they pushed invasive femoral head surgery or euthanasia.
I don’t feel either of those options are suitable especially without attempting non invasive measures first. Major surgery at his age with a heart murmur is not the best choice, if that is the consensus after a second opinion then I will make the hard decision.
As of today I feel he is not ready to be put to sleep. He is in pain, I know, but he is walking on that leg, eating and going potty. I don’t think he is suffering at this point, his pain is being managed and he’s my normal happy boy. Granted a little slower moving and can’t jump up to his spot on the couch, but he is okay for the most part.
I spent everything I had to get him seen on Thursday, we got xrays and pain medication along with the not so great medical advice. I called all the major vet hospitals in the tri-state area, the clinic fees are all the money I have left, so going in would only put me deeper in the hole and nowhere closer to helping him.
He has an appointment with a trusted office on Wednesday. I am hopeful the Dr will have better options for us.
I have money to cover the office visit, but not much outside of that. I applied for all the credit avenues with no luck, family offered moral support. Times are hard and money is tight, so I’m turning to the internet.
