Hi, my name is Jorge, and I’m asking for your help to support my brother, Rafa.
Rafa has lived with Type 1 diabetes since childhood. Over the years, the disease has taken a heavy toll — he is a dialysis patient and has lost most of his vision. But despite all of that, he has always faced life with quiet strength and resilience.
On Mother’s Day, Rafa suffered a medical crisis that changed everything. He experienced three severe hyperglycemic seizures, followed by a major stroke that caused significant brain damage and left him on a ventilator. While doctors were assessing the extent of the damage, they discovered a tumor in his brain.
Rafa is still with us, and he is fighting. He’s making small steps forward, but his recovery will be long and difficult. He is currently in a long-term care facility in Florida, but he will soon be discharged, and he can’t go through this next chapter alone.
Our family is in Connecticut, and we want to bring Rafa home so he can be close to the people who love him. He will need 24/7 care, specialized equipment, and a safe living space adapted to his needs.
We are trying to raise $40,000 to cover the cost of medically transporting Rafa from Florida to Connecticut and to help prepare the environment where he’ll continue his recovery — one filled with love, comfort, and the support he needs.
If you can donate, share, or help in any way, it would mean the world to us. Every contribution brings us closer to bringing Rafa home.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
