Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out today during one of the most challenging times of my life.
Last year, I sustained a serious injury to my arm while at work. That injury resulted in a brachial plexus injury and herniated discs. I now live with constant, excruciating pain that radiates from the side of my neck down my arm, across my clavicle, through my traps, and along my shoulder blade. It has significantly weakened me and made it incredibly difficult to complete daily tasks.
Before this, I was the full-time caregiver for my husband, who is a quadriplegic due to a spinal cord tumor that extends from his foramen magnum down his spine. I managed all aspects of his care—his hygiene, feeding, appointments, and daily needs. Since my injury, I’ve been unable to provide that care alone, and we’ve had to bring in around-the-clock help.
Now, we’ve been faced with another heartbreaking development: my husband is currently hospitalized due to a mass discovered in his bladder, which has caused a severe infection. The doctors have informed us that the mass will need to be surgically removed. This adds yet another layer of urgency, stress, and financial burden to our already overwhelming situation.
We are asking for a goal of $112,800, which will help cover a full year of:
In-home caregiving assistance
Medical supplies and hygiene products
Transportation and appointment costs
Basic living expenses while I recover and care for my husband
Additional costs related to his hospitalization and upcoming surgery
We’re hopeful that with time and support, we can make it through this. But right now, we’re simply trying to maintain stability and dignity while navigating this incredibly vulnerable time.
If you’re able to help—through donating or sharing this page—it would mean more than words can express. Your kindness will directly help us survive this season and ensure we both receive the care we urgently need.
With deep gratitude,
N Barnett
