My name is Nathan, and I’m a college student who recently lost my only means of transportation. My 2006 SV650 motorcycle, a gift from my dad Francois, was totaled when a driver under the influence crashed into it while it was parked on the street. The insurance payout isn’t enough to replace it, and now I’m struggling to get to class, buy groceries, and manage daily errands. With finals approaching, relying on buses, walking, and asking friends for rides is making everything much harder and more stressful.
This motorcycle wasn’t just a way to get around—it was a special connection to my dad. My father helped me get my first bike, taught me how to ride, and we spent a lot of time together on the road before he moved overseas to France. Every ride reminded me of those good times and kept me close to him, even from far away. Losing the bike has been a huge setback, both practically and emotionally.
