Hi, I’m Cody. I’m autistic and currently unable to work. I have no income and no medical insurance, which means I’m facing immense medical bills out-of-pocket as I rapidly lose my vision.
My vision loss is due to CVI, or Cortical Visual Impairment. This means my eyes are healthy, but my brain struggles to understand and process what my eyes see. Imagine a world that’s constantly cluttered, moving too fast, or just impossible to make sense of.
This condition causes severe challenges: I struggle to see things that move, especially in busy environments, and experience extreme eye fatigue. Recently, my vision has dramatically worsened; I can barely see my own hand, and the edges of my visual field are shaking and shrinking.
Glasses alone don’t fix CVI. It requires urgent, specialized neurological care, visual rehabilitation, and adaptive tools to help my brain learn to interpret vision. Your support will directly help cover these critical medical expenses, allow me to access the specialized doctors I need, and secure adaptive technology to navigate this complex and frightening journey. Thank you for any help you can offer.
