Hello, my name is Hollee and I am raising funds for my mom to help pay for a special medication to shrink a cancerous growth on her groin. Let me tell you her story. Please read to the end!! Almost 2 years ago both my parents were blessed to be able to retire and were ready to vacation and just enjoy being together. Unfortunately she found a spot on her stomach which turned out to be Melanoma, she was uninsured but was able to have the surgery to have it removed as well as one of her lymph nodes where cancer was also found. She was given an all clear. Fast forward to roughly the beginning of this year a knot started to form on the scar where the lymph node was removed. She was told it was just scar tissue and not to worry. Come March, this knot went from marble size to about a ping pong ball. It was causing her so much discomfort. She toughed it out because at this time she was caring for her mother who was battling stage 4 stomach cancer. (She unfortunately passed) this “knot” continued growing and has now gotten to the size of a large orange! She is in excruciating pain, can barely get up and move around, and still tries to keep her light. My mom is the most amazing woman I know! She is always willing to give her last for those in need! She loves God and her family. She loves to be outdoors working in her yard, planting flowers, and gardening. She loves going to the beach to collect shells which she makes crafts out of, that she then gifts to people. She loves to crochet and makes these awesome scrubbys for the shower and for dishes. She loves to take them with her wherever she goes and pass them out to strangers. When she’s out and about if she sees a homeless person she stops to sit and pray with them and of course gives them a scrubby. She has since been unable to do any of the things she loves. She has been seeing her oncologist these past few months and nothing was being done. She was told she needed to have the growth shrunk first and then told no we’ll just remove it. She was given pain medication and sent on her way. That was back when it wasn’t as big. She was still uninsured at that time. She was told by her doctor that he would do the surgery free of charge but it was the hospital that was holding back due to her not having insurance. I was able to find some health insurance for her that was effective June 1st. She spoke with her doctor again and they set her surgery date for June 5th. She went in and got all prepped for surgery, they took her back and immediately brought her back and said they couldn’t do it because it had grown to large. She was crushed! They sent her home. Today June 6th she went back to her oncologist and discussed the medication to shrink the cancer. The cost of this medication out of pocket, and is not covered by insurance is going to be $17000 just for one month. She will only need it for one month. She is a daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She’s not the type to ask for help on her own. She does not know I am doing this for her. If anyone would be willing to donate to help cover the cost of her medicine we would greatly appreciate it! Her name is Gail for those of you who see this and can’t donate please say a prayer for her. And if you made it this far, thank you!
