In February 2025, after getting sick with a virus, Meghan started experiencing shortness of breath, fatigue and progressive weakness affecting her mobility. The symptoms eventually kept her from leaving the house and made simple things like walking from room to room or caring for her and Mark’s five and eight-year-old boys very difficult and exhausting. She eventually had to take leave from her part-time jobs and stop driving the boys to and from school. At the end of her last doctor’s visit, prior to being admitted to a hospital, she couldn’t walk for hours, taking over a day for some feeling to return to her legs.
After months of doctor visits and two weeks in the hospital, Meghan was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), a condition where the autoimmune system attacks the body’s nerves. While in the hospital, she received 5 days of IV treatment to help stop her immune system from attacking her nerves (IVIG). While there is a chance of relapse and a small possibility of some irreversible nerve damage, her doctors are optimistic she will return to full health in a matter of months. Meghan has been at in-patient rehab for two weeks working on rebuilding muscle strength and function. Meghan is getting stronger day by day and hopeful for full healing. Praise God!!
Meghan returned home May 30th where she will continue physical and occupational therapy through neuro home health services. While the Millers are filled with joy Meghan is back home, they are aware that she will still be limited in what all she can do.
They are in need of support for childcare help like a mommy’s helper (during home therapy) and cleaning/cooking/lawn services over the next 3 months, as well as possible home modifications.
