I’d like to introduce you to the Onnen Family. We’ve known them for years and their oldest son has gotten to know our oldest daughter very well. Nick and Samantha are getting married at the end of the month.
Nick and Sam had a little hiccup in their wedding plans when Nick was diagnosed with Leukemia about six weeks ago. They’ve been soldiering on despite the chemo and haven’t moved their wedding date.
Last week, Jamey Onnen (Nick’s father) lost his mother. She was very elderly and this was expected. However, they did not expect that while he and his wife, Wendy, were driving to Idaho for the funeral, Wendy would suddenly suffer a brain aneurysm and need to be life-flighted to a hospital in Salt Lake City.
When it rains, it pours. This is a family that has served their community and blessed the lives of others their whole lives.
Even though they have insurance, I can only imagine that the cost of a helicopter ride, neurosurgery, an ICU stay, on top of months of chemotherapy for Nick, that they will be blowing through their out-of-pocket maximum very quickly.
Anything you can pitch in would be appreciated. The Onnens are my family.
