My name is Amanda, and I’m facing one of the toughest battles of my life: thyroid cancer that has metastasized into my right lung. I’ve been under the care of Oncology Services of America, but my surgery to remove the tumor from my lung can’t be scheduled until I pay my portion of the cost. Every day I wait, I deal with constant chest pain that feels like the Hulk is stepping on my chest. The medications I take just to get through the day leave me barely conscious, and the uncertainty of not knowing when I’ll get the surgery is overwhelming. It’s hard to put into words how unfair it feels to have my health and future held up by finances, but I refuse to accept that this is the end for me, no matter what my doctors have said.
I’m raising funds to cover the cost of this life-saving surgery. My sister, my best friend, and especially my husband have been by my side through every emergency room visit and every procedure. Their support means everything, but we can’t do this alone. Having this surgery will give me a real chance to keep living. While I know I’ll be fighting cancer for the rest of my life, removing this tumor will let me breathe easier and get back to a more normal life with the people I love. Any help you can give will bring me one step closer to the surgery I need to survive.
