Hi everyone,
My name is Samantha, and I’m the proud parent of a very special little boy named Kai. He’s 4 years old and full of personality — the funniest little guy you’ll ever meet. He absolutely loves his ABCs, counting, reading books, going for car rides, and singing along with the radio at the top of his lungs.
Kai was born at just 23 weeks and 2 days, weighing only 1 pound and 5 ounces. He spent nearly 5 months in the NICU, fighting through more than most of us could ever imagine — a deadly fungal infection, brain bleeds, seizures, and chronic lung disease. Because of his extreme prematurity, Kai was later diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy, which affects his entire body and how he’s able to move.
Our weeks are filled with speech, occupational, and physical therapies to help Kai thrive, but one of the biggest challenges we face daily is finding equipment that properly supports him.
Right now, we’re raising funds for a Special Tomato Soft-Touch Sitter with a mobile base — a specially designed chair that will support Kai’s posture, keep him comfortable, and allow us to move him around the house more safely and easily.
As Kai grows (he’s already almost 30 pounds and stretching out fast!), it’s getting harder to carry him everywhere. This chair would make a huge difference in his comfort and independence — and in our ability to care for him without risking injury.
The chair typically retails for $1,700, but it’s currently on sale for $800, which is our fundraising goal.
