My name is Rachel, and I’m raising funds to support my daughter A’Kya and her five children as they face a challenging time. My grandson Kyrie, who has Down Syndrome, was diagnosed with AVSD—a congenital heart defect common among children with Down Syndrome. Kyrie is scheduled for open heart surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital on June 18th, and there are several important doctor’s appointments leading up to his operation.
A’Kya is a devoted mother, and while she focuses on Kyrie’s care, she also needs to support her four other children. The daily travel to and from the hospital, along with daycare stops for the other kids, adds up quickly. On top of medical expenses, A’Kya will need to take time away from work to be with Kyrie during his surgery and recovery. This fundraiser will help cover travel costs, lost income and household needs so A’Kya can focus on what matters most—her children’s well-being.
