Hi! My name is Carla and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Tamara’s son Jordan who is 31 years old.
Jordan was attending BCIT when he fell ill and never seemed to recover. Suffering from memory loss, exhaustion and being very lethargic, Jordan had to drop out of his Engineering course.
After 2 and a half years on multiple medications and specialist appointments Jordan has been diagnosed with Frontal Lobe Dementia.
After a PET brain scan, it was confirmed that Jordan has Frontal Lobe Dementia – at the age of 31!
There is a treatment that Jordan can have to help reverse some of the side effects caused by the Frontal Lobe Dementia, called dTMS (Deep Transcrainial Magnetic Stimulation).
He is scheduled to work with a Neurologist to start the brain mapping on June 11, 2025 and then continue to the dTMS treatment everyday for 6 weeks.
dTMS is a brain stimulation technique that uses magnetic deep pulses to modulate activity in deeper brain regions, often targeting areas associated with dementia and neurological disorders, to regain cell structure and reignite cells.
Though the government recognizes this as an effective treatment it is NOT covered by MSP and all appointments and expenses for this treatment must be paid for out of pocket.
Each dTMS treatment is $200 and treatments must be everyday for 6 weeks to be affective. Brain mapping costs $1000 to start and it unknown at this time whether further treatments will be required.
Due to all the side effects of his illness, Jordan has not been able to work since his initial illness over 2 years ago.
Jordan is very exciting about his future, and hopes to return to BCIT to continue his studies once treatment is successful. He hopes to be a vibrant member of his community once again.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and any donation would be much appreciated!.
