Hi everyone,
I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my grandfather, Ruben Hernandez – or as everyone lovingly knows him, Poppy. If you know me, then you know Poppy isn’t just my grandfather – he’s my dad in every way that matters. Though he didn’t have to, he raised me and loved me as his own. That’s the kind of man he is.
Recently, Poppy was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. It’s a devastating diagnosis, but anyone who knows Poppy knows that cancer has no idea who it’s up against.
If you don’t already know, Poppy is one of the hardest working people you’d ever meet. As a child, he left school early to work in the fields and help support his family. That same selfless work ethic has carried him through his life. To this day, he continues working as much as he can. He never complains and never asks for anything in return.
But for the first time, he’s been forced to slow down. And now, he needs our help.
What hasn’t changed is his spirit. Poppy is beginning chemotherapy with the same strength and unshakable positivity that have always defined him. He wakes up every day determined to fight – for his health, for his family, and for more time with the people he loves.
Our family is doing everything we can to support him. And now, I am humbly asking for help to ease the financial stress that comes with this diagnosis so Poppy can focus only on healing.
