My name is Mercurial, though most people call me Q. I would like to ask you for a few minutes of your time while I update you on my situation.
This is the second fundraiser I have started as I am trying to adjust to my new life receiving electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatments for Bipolar Disorder, now every 6 to 8 weeks. My initial fundraiser saw me attempting to adjust while receiving treatments in an ongoing, weekly basis. In the time that has passed, I am finally in a place where my treatments are spread out a little more, which makes things like work more possible for me.
The treatments still have a detrimental impact on my memory and immediate functioning, but I have not shown symptoms in weeks now, and though I don’t want say too much and jinx myself, it does look like the episodes of the past 7 1/half months are finally in full remission.
That said I still need help. This episode was long and very costly, to say nothing of it’s impact on my body. It has taken me too long to get on a manageable treatment schedule, and my finances are stretched very thin. I am behind on several bills, and though I have found a part-time job that will enable me to earn what I need to going forward, it does not get me caught up on my current situation. Any help you can give me at this moment would go directly to rent, utilities, and food. Once caught up, my treatment schedule won’t see me going back to the hospital until August 4, so I will have plenty of time to get back into a rhythm of work and stay on top of my responsibilities.
I want to thank you again for any help you can give me even if it’s just to spread the word and share the link to my fundraiser. Bipolar disorder is devastating, and I have watched it destroy many good things in my life. I feel with my ECT treatments like I have a fighting chance, but it is always going to be challenging. Please consider if not donating, then spreading the word through social media, friends, and family.
Thank you so much for your time.
