I’m trying to raise money to help pay for the cost of cremation for Calixto Benvenutti, also known as Cal. He was my neighbor and dear friend for almost 15 years. He was a help to the local community with his mechanical ingenuity. He would offer his labor to the Farmer’s Market and help our seniors stay working safely.
Due to the inability to acquire accurate health insurance, he wasn’t able to get the help he needed for some serious mental health issues, which led to his premature death at the age of 44. His family and I are now trying to pick up the pieces, make sense of the chaos in this world, and try to give him the dignity of a respectable service where he can be remembered for all that he was and how much he loved to help someone.
Honestly, it’s so hard to imagine living in a world where I can’t just call him up and have him come save the day when I need help. He was the only person I could rely on when I needed help. He would do all that he could without thought of what he could get out of the situation. He genuinely cared about people and made this world a better place. Unfortunately, a big heart doesn’t usually come with a paycheck. The world doesn’t care how much you give; it just wants to know how much it can take. So any help would go towards his funeral costs and legal fees.
